As Promised, Another "Fun With Film" Post

run!, Star Trek- LJ post
My digital camera is making me a sloppy photographer. I absolutely adore my Canon Rebel but I'm finding it far to easy to just click away without actually thinking about the shot, deleting what I didn't like and cropping/tweaking images in Photoshop. My memory card holds an insane amount of pictures, so I can shoot a hundred images of the same damn thing hoping for the best without really paying attention to composition and settings. I've taken some great pictures with the Rebel, but I haven't been excited about using it recently.

What to do to get out of this creative funk? Cut for length and images )

Job Opening

We desperately need a full-time assistant at work. If you are interested, or if you know somebody who is, the job description is under the cut.

here you go )

It's a good opportunity to get into the business. Our work environment really encourages learning and skill growth. I've decided to stay in veterinary medicine which is why I'm taking classes to be a licensed technician. Techs can make pretty decent money.

The job description says 30-40 hours per week but as busy as we are it should consistently be around 40 hours. We're closed on Sundays and holidays but take turns coming in to feed any boarding kitties. As for weekends, we're open on Saturdays and try to rotate the schedule to be fair.

We need a part-timer too :)

Yikes!
They know where I am. I can hear them scraping at the door.

They can't get through all that concrete, right? Right?

The Invasion of Seattle

Yikes!
I slept in and spent the morning reading a book, so I only recently learned about the invasion. I have never been so afraid as was when I read [info]scarlettina and [info]mrdorbin's posts. I loaded Ted and Siggy into the car and took off down Roosevelt. Halfway to the U-Dstrict the road was completley blocked by a mob of zombies marching toward me. I pushed the gear to put the car in reverse so hard that it snapped right off. My car was stuck in neutral. The mob of undead were relentlessly closing in, their gray soul-less eyes focused only on me and their salivating lips grinning grotesquely. Ted started to whine and tried to hide under the seat. I began to rummage through my glove compartment to see if there was anything I could use as a weapon or to fix the gearshaft. My fingers closed on a ballpoint pen and I rammed it into the where the gearshaft had been as hard as a good and pulled. Let me tell you, nothing was so beautiful as seeing that illuminated "R" indicating my car was now in reverse. I stomped down on the accelerator just as the first of the zombies were reaching my car. One grasped at my door handle just as the car started to move and got his/her/its arm ripped off as I sped away. It was such a sickening feeling to listen to the "thud-whump-thud-whump" of that lifeless arm bouncing against my car door as I drove. My makeshift gearshift lever was working like a charm so I was able to shift back into drive and head down one of the side roads. I turned on the radio to try to calm my nerves but all I found was static except for some strange groaning/moaning sounds on KEXP (I can only hope they were in the middle of an experimental music show).

I ended up on 45th and was amazed to see the long line of SIFF film-goers lined up around the corner of the Neptune. Apparently they *really* wanted to see that particular film and nothing was going to stop them. At the end of the line a group of zombies were doggedly picking them off one by one. I unrolled the car window to tell them to run but they stubbornly stood their ground. Crying in frustration I had to leave. The screams, the gore, the horrible smell... it was all too much.

Somehow I was able to get back to my house, but not before detaching that horrible arm from my car. I suddenly remembered that Mike and I had built a bomb shelter out back last summer. Now I'm down there with Ted and Siggy. I'm hoping against hope that Mike gets home alive. There's plenty of food and books and the place is wired for electricity. If anyone is reading this, scratch that, if anyone who is ALIVE is reading this, there's room for you to join us.

Who will go with me?
